Who can apply

“Public or private Arkansas schools (Pre-K–12)”
In the funder’s own words, from agriculture.arkansas.gov, checked Oct 5, 2026.

Up to 10 schools are picked each year. Schools must have little shade on a playground, attend an online STOP workshop, teach school-wide lessons on trees, involve students, hold a planting ceremony and care for the trees after. In 2025, ten more schools got a small potted tree each; two private Christian academies were among the schools listed.

  • Playground with little existing shade
  • Attend an online STOP workshop for educators
  • School-wide lessons on trees and a tree-planting ceremony
  • Care for the trees after planting

Timing

The page says the application period “typically runs from late August through mid-September each year,” so this year's window has passed. Watch the page for the next round.
