How to apply

  1. Step 1: Confirm your high school offers CNC machining classes

  3. Step 3: Create an account on the Gene Haas secondary portal and apply by December 1

Funders change their requirements. Check the official page before you apply. Getting ready? See what funders usually ask for.

Who can apply

“Only public schools, private schools/programs which have nonprofit status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and their supporting foundations may apply.”
In the funder’s own words, from webportalapp.com, checked Oct 28, 2026.

The school gets the check and passes the money to its CNC students as scholarships, tool or safety gear awards, summer camps, or graduation gifts. Money can't buy Haas products or other brands' machines, printers or software. Apply once a year. The foundation does not fund individuals and does not directly help start a new CNC program.

  • Public school or 501(c)(3) private school with an existing CNC training program
  • Funds go to students (scholarships, tooling, safety gear, camps)
  • Cannot buy Haas products or other machines, printers or software
  • One application per year

Timing

Annual deadline December 1. Late requests can be emailed with LATE GRANT REQUEST in the subject line and may still be considered.
