Who can apply

“the Herb Society of America will award up-to 15 grants to pre-K - Grade 6 classrooms for planting, expanding or improving an herb garden.”
In the funder’s own words, from herbsociety.org, checked Oct 14, 2026.

A teacher applies for one classroom. Money buys soil, plants, containers and child-sized tools for an herb garden. Winners send a short written report (500 words or less) and at least two photos. The Herb Society asks for answers in your own voice and says not to submit AI-generated garden photos.

  • Pre-K to grade 6 classroom (older page: K-6)
  • Ten or more students (stated on the older overview page)
  • Final report of 500 words or less plus two or more photos

Timing

Applications for the 2027 grants are taken September 1 to December 1, 2026 (another Herb Society page says it opened August 1). Awards are announced January 2027. Runs every year.
