Unconfirmed: check with the funder

We couldn’t confirm these on an official page. Treat them as open questions, not facts.

  • ?Which private schools pass the eligibility check (the county list is the co-op's service territory, not a grant rule)
  • ?Whether a microschool or co-op counts as a qualifying private school
  • ?Whether for-profit private schools pass the eligibility check

How to apply

  1. Step 1: Confirm your school is on HOTEC's qualifying list, or ask HOTEC before applying
  2. Step 2: Write a one- to two-page project or field trip description
  3. Step 3: List the school's financial officer or accountant to receive the check
  4. Step 4: Submit between October 1 and November 30

Who can apply

“If you are teaching at a private school, your application will be subject to eligibility verification.”
In the funder’s own words, from hotec.coop, checked Oct 14, 2026.

The qualifying-school list names public districts and towns (McGregor, Belton, Gatesville, Cameron and others). A private-school teacher applies and the co-op checks eligibility. Each district is limited to the first three applications and may get about one grant. The check goes to the school's accountant.

  • K-12 teacher of science, reading, math, history or social studies
  • School must be on HOTEC's qualifying-school list (named communities in Central Texas); private schools are checked case by case
  • Project or field trip used within the school year
  • Written final report with photos; students in photos need parental permission for print and online use

Timing

Applications are accepted October 1 through November 30 each school year (the page gives a recurring window, not a dated 2026 notice); grants are awarded in March.
