Who can apply

“The applicant must have permission to apply on behalf of an organization (if applicable).”
In the funder’s own words, from littlefreelibrary.org, checked Oct 28, 2026.

High-poverty and low book-access areas get priority (check the map on the page). You need the location and any permits approved before you apply, and a plan to keep it stocked. Winners install it, register it, add it to the public map (opt-out possible) and share a photo and story. One application per organization every 6 months.

  • Applicant 18 or older and local to the library
  • Confirmed library location with all permissions
  • Library location and shipping address in the U.S., a U.S. territory or Canada
  • Plan to keep it stocked and maintained
  • One application every 6 months

Timing

Applications are reviewed every month. You hear back by the end of the next month.
