Unconfirmed: check with the funder

We couldn’t confirm these on an official page. Treat them as open questions, not facts.

  • ?The page also says letters 'may be submitted at any time', which conflicts with the November to December window. We list the window.
  • ?Whether a very small or new microschool would be a good fit; the foundation prefers projects beyond what local donors can fund.

What to do now

  1. Step 1: Check that your school is a 501(c)(3) and the project is a one-time project
  2. Step 2: Write a letter of inquiry (2 pages max) with the items the foundation lists, including proof of 501(c)(3) status and the estimated amount
  3. Step 3: Email it between November 1 and December 31
  4. Step 4: If a trustee is interested, they will contact you and may send a full application
  5. Step 5: Winners file a final report and share results with other Christian schools

Funders change their requirements. Check the official page before you apply. Getting ready? See what funders usually ask for.

Who can apply

“Priority will be given to grants to Christian elementary and secondary schools nationally and internationally.”
In the funder’s own words, from lorenzfamilyfoundation.org, checked Oct 10, 2026.

Applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits. The foundation likes projects that are new or creative, help students grow in faith, and can be shared with other schools. It won't pay for ongoing operating costs, capital costs or building campaigns.

  • 501(c)(3) nonprofit
  • Christian school
  • A one-time project (not operating costs or buildings)
  • Letter of inquiry, 2 pages max, by email

Timing

Letters of inquiry are accepted only November 1 to December 31, for projects funded the next year. If no trustee contacts you by July 1, the request wasn't picked that year.

Please leave links out of the note and send it again. Describe the problem in words instead.

We couldn’t take that just now. Please try again later, or email sam@gethomebook.com.
