Unconfirmed: check with the funder

We couldn’t confirm these on an official page. Treat them as open questions, not facts.

  • ?The pages don't say whether private-school or microschool teachers are treated any differently; nothing excludes them.
  • ?A microschool head who is also the principal may need someone else to sign the principal letter.
  • ?NCTM membership prices were not checked.

How to apply

  1. Step 1: Pick the one grant that fits your grade band (you can only win one per cycle)
  2. Step 2: Join NCTM at the Essential or Premium level if the grant needs it
  3. Step 3: Read that grant's Application Information sheet and scoring rubric
  4. Step 4: Ask your principal for a letter on school letterhead
  5. Step 5: Submit through the NCTM portal by November 1, 2026 (or May 1, 2027 for the spring grants)

Who can apply

“All funding opportunities except The Designing Innovative Lessons and Activities for Mathematics Teaching Grant require NCTM membership.”
In the funder’s own words, from nctm.org, checked Oct 10, 2026.

Membership rule, from the grant info sheets: "The applicant must be a current (on the day of the application) Essential or Premium member of NCTM" (PK-5 Teacher PD grant). Some grants also accept a teacher who teaches "at a school with a current membership" (Equity in Mathematics PK-6). The Designing Innovative Lessons (K-8) grant needs no membership. Most teacher grants are "Organizational": the teacher can name the school to hold the money, or take it personally and report it as income. A person can win only one MET award per cycle.

  • NCTM Essential or Premium member on the day you apply (except the Designing Innovative Lessons grant)
  • Math teacher in the grade band of the grant; some grants need 3+ years of teaching
  • Proposal (3 pages), budget, 1-page vita
  • Letter of support from your principal on school letterhead
  • Final report with receipts

Timing

Most classroom grants are due November 1, 2026 (they opened August 1). A second round (tools and technology, data science, school in-service PD, history/number theory PD) opens February 1, 2027 and is due May 1, 2027.
