Who can apply

“Eligible organizations are Ohio’s public, private, charter, or parochial schools (pre-kindergarten through grade 12).”
In the funder’s own words, from dam.assets.ohio.gov, checked Oct 28, 2026.

The Ohio Arts Council pays 100 percent of a teaching artist's fees ($350 per residency day) for a residency of about 10 days up to a full school year. No cash match; the school gives materials and staff time (in-kind). One grant per school per year. Criminal records checks apply to teaching artists. Groups whose main purpose is childcare cannot apply. All OAC applicants must be incorporated and operating in Ohio and be 501(c)(3) or nonprofit in intent; for-profit corporations are excluded (OAC Appendix A). The guidelines PDF dates from late 2024 and says March 1 every year; March 1, 2027 is that annual date (the FY2028 cycle is not separately announced), and FY2027 awards (July 2026) show the program is active. Religion: parochial schools named, but OAC money cannot fund projects whose main purpose is presenting religious ideas or improving a religious institution's property. Paid to: the school (for artist fees).

  • Ohio public, private, charter or parochial school, pre-K to 12
  • Work with a teaching artist (OAC roster or approved)
  • In-kind materials and staff time
  • At least one staff professional development workshop
  • Nonprofit or nonprofit in intent (no for-profit corporations)

Timing

Deadline March 1 each year at 5 p.m. (guidelines). Next expected: March 1, 2027, for 2027-28 residencies; check OAC for the FY2028 call.
