Who can apply

“Grants are awarded to individuals from age 3 to 22 who are U.S. citizens living in the U.S.”
In the funder’s own words, from smallstepsinspeech.org, checked Oct 5, 2026.

Families apply, not schools. The household's joint income can't be over $125,000. It pays for future speech therapy, therapeutic summer camps, or assistive devices and apps, paid straight to the provider or vendor; not for past bills, ABA therapy or iPads (iPad apps are OK with an AAC evaluation). A child who has already used a grant can't reapply. The therapist must be ASHA-licensed.

  • Child aged 3–22, U.S. citizen living in the U.S.
  • Joint household income of $125,000 or less
  • A specific speech or language need
  • Include the child's insurance information

Timing

Next deadline: November 1, 2026, by 5:00 p.m. Eastern. Deadlines come four times a year: February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1. Families hear back within 60 days.
