- Step 1: Ask whether your school pays its electric bill to SSVEC (that means you are in the area)
- Step 2: Download the guideline PDF and follow the sample proposal format
- Step 3: Plan for the 2027 round (2026 closed in September); apply early for microgrants

Who can apply
“Schools and 501c3 educational entities serving students within the SSVEC service area are eligible to apply for a grant of up to $150,000”
Service area towns include Benson, Bowie, Elfrida, Hereford, Sierra Vista, Tombstone, Willcox and others. SSVEC cannot fund partial projects: if the grant does not cover everything, the proposal must say where the rest comes from. Entity grantees send receipts for the full award; microgrant teachers send project photos instead (no receipts). Up to two entity proposals per year. Microgrants are first come, first served until the pool runs out. SSVEC may ask for proof of 501(c)(3) status before paying.
- School or 501(c)(3) educational entity serving students in the SSVEC service area
- Whole project must be funded (show other sources if the grant does not cover it all)
- Entity grants: receipts for the full award; microgrants: project photos
Timing
The 2026 rounds are closed: entity grants were due September 15, 2026 (the PDF guidelines say September 1), and the $150,000 microgrant pool ran out. The page says to check back next year; 2027 dates are not posted.
