Who can apply

“Applicants must be classified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501(c)(3) public charity.”
In the funder’s own words, from bankofamerica.com, checked Oct 2, 2026.

Where the money goes: the trust's page says about 65% of its yearly grants go to organizations in Arkansas and about 35% in Texas, and its “strong preference” for the Dallas area applies only to its Texas grants. Arkansas schools are its main audience, not an afterthought. It funds arts and culture, education, health and human services, and it encourages capital, project, medical research and endowment requests; start-up programs and limited general operating requests are also considered. A church school without its own IRS letter should ask Bank of America (tx.philanthropic@bofa.com) whether it can apply.

  • IRS 501(c)(3) public charity
  • In Arkansas or Texas (about 65% of grants go to Arkansas)
  • Apply online through Bank of America; email applications aren't accepted
  • After a 1-year grant, skip one cycle before applying again; after a multi-year grant, wait 2 years after the last payment
  • No grants to individuals or for lobbying or political campaigns

Timing

Every year on March 1, online by 11:59 pm. When March 1 falls on a weekend or holiday the deadline moves to the business day BEFORE it (2026's was Friday, Feb 27). The next one is Monday, March 1, 2027. Decisions take about 3 to 4 months.
