Who can apply

“Eligible recipients are 501(c)(3) organizations with a current project related to Texas history.”
In the funder’s own words, from texashistoricalfoundation.org, checked Oct 14, 2026.

Covers Texas history curriculum and educational programs, public history events, and preservation. For religious institutions, clubs and schools, the project must clearly benefit people beyond the group or congregation. The FAQ says applications with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor are accepted for both Micro and Annual Grants. For building projects, the property must generally be owned by the applicant. Routine operating costs are generally not eligible.

  • 501(c)(3), or a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor
  • Project about Texas history with clear public benefit
  • Building projects: you must own the property
  • Two steps: letter of inquiry, then application by invitation
  • Past grantees wait one year and must be current on reports
